Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.  (Psalms 30:5, ESV)

Problems seem insurmountable when you’re tired beyond your limits or when they wake you in the middle of the night. Because when the crisis is standing right in front of you, it seems like it’s bigger than God and all you can consider are the dire consequences. When your troubles are the result of God’s chastisement, it can be disheartening. He’s God. Where can you appeal?

Thankfully, He knows we are dust and we are fallible, and His anger is “but for a moment.” Yes, He can bring chastisement our way, but He chastises those He loves, not for destruction but for reconciliation. His goal is to bring us back into His favor which is for a lifetime.
