Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. (Psalms 100:4)
For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. (Psalms 100:5)
We can thank Him for His greatness because He is an all-powerful God in Whom we can place our full confidence. We can thank Him because with all of His power and all of His might, He is good: Good in all He does, good at all He does, and good to us His creatures. And we can thank Him because His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures forever.
Ultimately, all sin is against our Creator God. All sin must be forgiven by the one offended. Thankfully our God is both just and merciful. I have offended God deeply with my sin, but through His Son he has found a way to pay my penalty and grant me His full forgiveness.
Psalms 130:3-4
(3) If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
(4) But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.
Because my God is absolute and timeless I know that His mercy and forgiveness are also absolute and timeless. It does not matter what you have done, or how you have “messed up.” If you come to God in humility and repentance, He will forgive. He will and He can forgive because He has the absolute power and authority to do so.
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:7)
His truth endures to all generations because He endures! It does not matter if the generations find His truth and the followers of His truth to be irrelevant. His truth is everlasting. It has relevance and is morally binding regardless of the times in which it finds itself. One day there shall be no more time, but God’s truth will still endure. Thank God for all that He is!
