Psalms 34:17-19
(17) The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all
their troubles.
(18) The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as
be of a contrite spirit.
(19) Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth
him out of them all.
My righteousness is not my own. It comes to me from Christ. The more broken and contrite I am, the more His righteousness shines in me. His righteousness does not exempt me from trials and afflictions. It puts such things to good use. Because the more I am tried, the more I am broken and the more I am broken, the more Christ can be seen in me.
“My strength is made perfect [mature] in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (2 Corinthians 12:9b).
On a personal note, please remember my wife’s upcoming ankle surgery.
